BT Glide Cordless Bluetooth Review
With the popularity of mobile phones, BT is trying to save landline phones by launching it to the 21st century. They are doing this with the BT Glide Cordless Bluetooth handset. The phones main feature is that it communicates with its base station via bluetooth. This allows more maneuverability and less wires.
The BT Glide is BT’s first cordless phone with Bluetooth support and works with your PC or mobile to offer a range of wireless functions. It feels a bit like an extension of your mobile phone in itself. That is very evident with its SIM functionality. Users can insert a SIM card into its SIM card reader so that users can still use their contacts. Aside from that, it looks like a Nokia 7650 handset.
Another cool feature that this handset has is its sync capabilities. As mentioned, you can insert a SIM card into it to copy contacts, but there’s another way to do that. Users can sync, via bluetooth, their contacts from their mobile phone to the Glide. The option to use it with a Bluetooth headset is also there.
The menu system is easy to use and it has T9 predictive text - unusual for a home phone.
Other notable features are already standard in most modern phones, such as hands-free operation, voicemail and access to the range of BT calling features like Call Diversion, Call Waiting and reminders. You can also send text messages to other SMS capable landlines and mobile phones using BT’s texting service. You get up to 200 of these free depending on what calling plan you’re on.

However great these few innovations are, one thing that users won’t like is its bad call quality. Incoming calls are coming in well, but, once you make an outgoing call, a lot of interference can be heard. Another negative worth mentioning is the display screen which not very well lit. Ergonomically, the Glide is twice as thick as a normal DECT phone.
